I also purchased the size 6x/7, thinking that would be a better fit. In fact, this 4/6 fit her better but with little room to spare. If she continues in dance next year after she is 5, the 6x/7 would be a better fit. The quality of this leotard is exceptional. It has an inner liner and is plenty thick. It is also significantly more comfortable in cotton than another one I got at a local department store, which was all nylon (and thin).
