As a solution for now, since the grids are printed to the edges, you can piece two mats together to give you a 3x4ft terrain/map. This works ideally for the square side. Is it that marker (Wet-erase , dry-erase, ?) can stay that long, or that after 2+ months of use it starts to stain?** A: We left a map on one of ours for 8+ months with dry erase and when we rolled it out again just a little rubbing alcohol some wet wipes from Kroger and it was good as new **Q: Is the crystal mat heavy enough to flatten folded paper/laminated maps that "tent" at the folds?** A: Like all game mats, the clear mat doesn't really act as a weight that would totally flatten out any creases in the underlayed map. However, as a cover, it does "dampen" the creases a little, and importantly, it does sit tight to the map. In terms of how effective it would be for you, the only way to tell properly is to test it out on the map that you have. You can always buy it, try it out, and if you're not happy, return it? Will the image show through if I put this on the plexiglass?** A: Good Question. In general the frosted mat is designed to go directly over a map. As we tested it, the further distance between the mat and the map, the more blurred it becomes. The answer to your question will depend on how large the features of your digital map are, and how large the distance is between the frosted mat and the digital map (i.e how thick your plexiglass is). So it's hard to say without this information. But let me try to say something concrete to help give some idea. I zoomed in on a "Lost Mine of Phandelver" Map on my 13" laptop screen to the point where the hexes are about 1". I laid the mat on my screen and can see the hexes well. I lift the mat away 1cm, and they become blurry. But, I can still see the tress, land and sea because of their colors.
