No assembly needed as it comes straight out of the box. All you do is push down when in a bowl, and it pops up really rapidly. No real pressure needed - a simple pumping action, and it is very easy to operate. Have your eggs whisked in a jiffy. It's an all-metal construction, so ease of cleaning - I put mine in the dishwasher or hand clean. Great machine. It's a full-sized whisk. I wish they also did a smaller version for small cups.
