As I’m not a big fan of white colored bristles (unless they’ve just been washed and left unused, they just look dirty to me) I like how the tips are dark. I recommend using your own shampoo and conditioner to cleanse and maintain them, unless you have an actual makeup brush cleaner that’s safe for synthetic bristles. It seems that some of the other reviewers had issues with shedding. I’ve observed very minimal bristle loss, so I’m not sure why there’s such a difference experience between the same product. I use the larger rounded the most (as I apply darker shades of contour with it) and wash it frequently. I’ve never had the bristles come loose on my face, which is awesome (can’t stand the feel of that particular skin tickle). P.S. Mine did not come with a case. But the one that’s currently included with the purchase looks kinda cheap and doesn’t seem to coordinate very well with the brushes, so no perceived loss on my end.
