It made sense as a solution for me since (1) I can never ever guarantee the fit of garments produced overseas, and (2), it was far less costly if I could adapt this to clothing I already have.I used it first the very day I received it, by just tucking the pads in place underneath some thermal underwear pants. Using a 10000 mAh portable usb charger/battery, It started right up and I could feel some impressive heat within a second or two. You do need to maneuver the wires, of which there are many, in a way that isn't awkward. And since there are so many pads they'll inevitably be left in a tangle. But considering what its for, it was a minor convenience. I eventually sewed pockets onto the same thermal underwear so these could be slipped in place as needed.Wearing outside at night in close to freezing temps (mid to low 30s) with a brisk breeze, and I was fine. My friends were bundled up and surviving but you could tell they were cold. The hottest mode gets hot enough where I felt like I needed to bring it down some. The lowest setting is barely perceptible, and the medium setting is just enough to keep you warm but not really feel heat coming off the pads. But if you want cozy, set it on high.That 10,000 mAh battery did not last for more than a few hours before it started to edge toward low. In my case, when it headed toward 30% or so, the output reduced and the heating pads turned off. I could still turn it on but had to do so every few minutes. I'd say 3 hours or so before it turned off. Keep in mind it was on high most of the time.I'm right at 5 weeks now and it no longer works. After using it for about a dozen times it won't switch on. The fault was easy to see... on the back of the switch the rubber used to seal the wires to the switch has broken away and one of the very thin wires (guessing 22-24 awg), has separated.IMHO, this really is a great product that really works, but the durability leaves something to be desired. If sewn into a garment permanently, you would still need to carefully manage how the wires are pressed against stress points.Would I order again? Yes. Actually at the price point its not bad. I'm planning on ordering another and plotting a way to reduce the risk of those wires separating again. I'm also looking at a more robust battery.
