Review: Excellent and SAFE - I have a five year old who always wants to use our big chef's knife--but she is definitely not coordinated enough to do this safely, not least because she tries to chop as quickly as she sees her parents doing it. She is loving these knives. They're well made, sturdy, and sharp enough to cut some firmer items like potatoes (particularly with the serrated blade). We had previously purchased some of those brightly colored plastic knives that you see for kids to practice but honestly they're worthless--they can't cut through anything with more substance than a strawberry. Very happy with my purchase!

A: I bought this for my 9 year old grandson. He loves it and it works great. This should be reassuring for you and your daughter.

A: Stamped with: Khun Rikon, Swiss design. Nothing about where it was made

**Q: is this good for 7 y-o or more for younger kids?**
A: I bought it for a 5 year old, but am told the 8 year old really liked it too.  Their Mom says it's actually a pretty good knife!

**Q: What is the diffrenence between this knife and nylon knives? Which is easier to cut with?**
A: The blade is stainless steel, and is much more durable than a nylon knife. It is a safe knife for a child, thus it is not very sharp. However it makes a good knife to start with for a learning child.

The knives are great for fine motor development, cutting cheese, apples, opening bananas themselves, and the scissors are great for cutting herbs. My kids have always been involved in helping me cook, and while these definitely aren't chef quality knives, they're safe and won't cut your kids, but will let your preschoolers feel bigger and more involved.
