Comes with a chin strap, but it is easily removable, so I did that. I wasn't planning on wearing it in high wind any time soon. When I do, it is very easy to put the strap back in. The weave of the straw is great. Provides plenty of shade while also allowing airflow. My biggest concern was whether it would actually fit my head. I always have to order size XXL in hats in order to have them actually fit my very large cranium. I was pleasantly surprised by how flexible this hat is. It fit my huge head very comfortably. The elastic inner band is nice and soft and expanded nicely to fit my head.
