Its compact chassis mount design includes a mounting kit, crafted from durable copper and steel, weighing 3.11 kg for professional-grade performance. ## Description VIGORTRONIX 300 VA Mains Toroidal Transformer 2 x 115 V : 2 x 35 V VTX-146-300-235 : desertcart.co.uk: DIY & Tools Review: Good replacement for vintage HiFi Power Transformers. - I bought this to replace a suspected faulty transformer in a vintage Sony TA1150 amplifier. It was a perfect mechanical fit in the space but needed a longer mounting bolt than the one provided. It did not have the multi region voltage options of the original. As I would not be using the amp outside of UK I removed all this from the amp anyway. I used Wago connectors to wire it up so it is all easily reversible. The output is specified at +/-35V but is actually ~+/-40V, however this is because the mains input is 240Vac and not 230Vac. On first test it blew the 3A fuse in the mains plug which I uprated to 5A. I presume this was due to inrush being different. It also blew the two 1.6AT fuses on the amplifier for the primary windings (I had secondary winding fuses already removed so not connected to amp). I replaced these with 4AT (all I had suitable but now have lower rated) and all powered up fine. Despite everything testing out OK, the output of the rectifier circuit is +/-50Vdc despite input being +/-40Vac. Don't know why but may need to drop that voltage before connecting to power amp circuits unless load pulls it down. So, this transformer is a good replacement for the Sony original with a bit of rework.
