We had considered going do the road to planet fitness and paying for a membership just to shower there. But then, I found this wonderful thing. I couldn't hit buy now quick enough! We just got our unit today. Both my husband and I promptly took showers after only charging the unit for maybe 15 min. Boiled a couple large pots of water on the stove. Put the hot water in a bucket and went to the shower where I added cold water to bring temp to a skin safe temp. Plopped the motor end in to the bucket and took a warm shower! Now was this the most relaxing shower I've ever taken? No! Does this thing have great water pressure? No. Does it work and effectively take hot water from a bucket and make a shower? Yes! I have hair down to my rear. 5 gallons was just barely enough to shampoo and condition and wash my body. Make sure you take caution to not get suds from washing soap/shampoo off into the bucket providing the water. The hanger for the shower head was pretty useless. If you need to put the water down but dont want to waste it, just put the shower head over the side of the bucket so it's going right back in the bucket instead of down the drain. All in all, I highly recommend this if you need a shower in a pinch. It does work great compared to any other portable shower option out there! Review: Saved our skins during our last camping trip; would highly recommend! - I bought this for camping; to shower, clean boots, etc. It worked BRILLIANTLY! Our last camping trip was a four-day regional burning man event with no showers or even running water--in late May in Texas and it rained every day--so you can just imagine the heat, humidity, and mud. I don't know how we would have made it without this shower. We set it up out back of our camp with a five gallon bucket and our washcloths and towels, and used the bucket lid as an impromptu mat to stand on. It worked GREAT for showering and washing hair, and during the heat of the days we could easily grab a quick cold rinse-off to keep from frikken passing out in the heat and humidity. For a warm shower we added hot water heated on our camping stove. At some point we realized we didn't pack the USB charging cable and figured we'd be SOL after a couple of days of use, but the doggone thing held a charge the whole time, only getting truly feeble the afternoon of the last day while we were packing up to leave. We were really surprised at that and SO thankful! Great purchase and I'd highly recommend. One side-note: Part of why we were so surprised at the battery's longevity is that we used this shower so frequently every day... not just to shower and keep cool but to follow a protocol to protect us from poison ivy. The entire festival site for this event is plagued with poison ivy and it's a huge annual issue for most participants. I want to share the protocol we've found because it's so effective. As many people know, the urushiol oil in poison ivy is what gets you. The oil is sticky and like other oils is waterproof and quite resistant to washing off, even with warm water and soap. What most people don't know is that the oil needs 2-3 hours to penetrate your skin and set off a reaction, so if you can get it off you before then you're in the clear. A good degreasing soap (we use Dawn dishwashing soap) does the trick, but here's the common problem people have: scrubbing with your hands, even really vigorously, leaves traces of oil behind. The webs between fingers/toes and the backsides of forearms are notorious spots... t's crazy how many poison ivy rashes begin on the back of a forearm because folks thought they washed up well but didn't scrub the backs of their arms enough. The fix is to use a washcloth to scrub up, and it WORKS. We got stuck having to set up in a spot RIDDLED with poison ivy on the ground and with this protocol of washing up regularly, using Dawn dishwashing soap and a washcloth, we avoided any outbreaks. We each had our own washcloth and rinsed them thoroughly after each use. We're both very sensitive to poison ivy and get TERRIBLE rashes from it, so our success with this protocol is a Big Deal with a capital B and a capital D. Try it and share it!

**Q: How long of a shower can get with (in minutes) from a 5 gallon bucket of water?**
A: Mine is even faster. 40 seconds per gallon. Need to shut it off with about a gallon still in the bucket or the pump will be above water. So I timed four gallons of water and that took 160 seconds. About 2 1/2 minutes.

**Q: How long is the hose from the pump to the shower handle**
A: I think it's about 7 feet, which was perfect for putting the pump part into a water bucket and hanging the showerhead above us in the shower tent. It's simplicity is what makes it so efficient for us.

A: I wouldn't recommend it unless the manufacturer confirms that the pump has an internal pressure relief arrangement.  It looks to be a diaphragm type positive displacement pump, similar to an aquarium air pump, working via a solenoid-operated piston moving a diaphragm back and forth.  The diaphragm forms part of a chamber, which increases and decreases in size as the piston moves.  There would be a non-return valve (probably a spring-assisted ball check valve) on both the chamber inlet and the chamber outlet.  The diaphragm pump design allows complete separation of the working machinery from the pumped fluid, and they are generally designed so that the process fluid (water in this case) is not necessary for bearing lubrication or motor cooling.  Being a positive displacement pump, it would move the same amount of water regardless of the back pressure it is pumping against.  This means that if the pump is running and the hose outlet is closed with a valve on the shower head, the water still has to go somewhere, so the weakest point will fail (leak), e.g. the sealing gasket, the hose, or the pump diaphragm.  If the weakest point happened to be the shower head immediately upstream of the valve, shrapnel from the resultant explosion, or being struck by the flailing hose, particularly if fitted with a metal ferrule or fitting, could cause a serious injury.The manufacturer would have assumed that the switch on the pump would be within reach during use, since the hose to the shower head is only 6.5' long.  Incorporating a switch on the shower head would add significant cost, utility, and reliability issues to the product.  It would require an electrical switch, an electrical cable along the length of the hose, which would be stiffened by the armour required to protect the cable from mechanical damage, and two cable glands (seals): one in the pump housing, and one in the shower head.
