It comes with a power cord to allow you to operate on AC POWER plugging into wall outlet. Cant have any D CELL BATTERIES in radio when plugged into outlet. AC power cord is also how you charge built in rechargeable battery in radio. Again, never have D cell batteries in radio when using AC power cord, it could rupture the batteries. Never charge internal battery(the hidden one) more than 8 hours, with radio off.
