The oval studs are sturdy and rigid enough so that glasses and bottles won't move around. The ones with narrow spikes are prone to wobbling. There is a good grip on the bottom and the white accent makes the mat look finished. I use this as a surface for pouring drinks to protect my wooden bar surface.
