The one that I got was equipped with PL2303GT USB to RS232 chip converter. Pin layout is slightly different with an FTDI version of the cable. Most modern desktop motherboards and laptops only come with with either USBA or USBC ports. This is a cable good for linking legacy devices with serial port only interface. This is convenient if you don't want to build your own custom cable and module converter Cable was detected immediately in a Windows platform and driver installation was a breeze either through windows or from CableCreation website offline installation setup. Detection of the cable was the same story in a Linux based platform but driver needs extra effort. My only gripe was that it didn't work for my use case for own use case implementation of connecting to a Arduino board.
