If you wash it right after use and use the brush/stick to avoid getting your fingers near the blade, you should be fine. In addition to the little brush, I use a soaped-up sponge and hot, running water rather than putting it in a dishpan. **Q: does it come with the plunger?** A: Yes it comes all assembled **Q: What is the differece between the aqua one(39.95) and other colors (49.95), besides the color?** A: Starfrit makes this in green, sold by Walmart, Wayfair, and others...
