I am an avid hiker going on day hikes at least once a week. I have used these to climb half dome. They are very comfy and fit my size well. One note, do not add extra insoles on top of the existing ones. Either take the stock ones out for something else, or just leave them in because they are perfectly fine. It is good to have good socks also. Highly recommended for hikers. Im a Park Ranger so I am on my feet all day walking the park and hiking up steep mountain terrain. I normally take an 11 but ordered a 11.5 to accommodate a pair of thick wool sock. They required no break in and are probably the most comfortable hiking boots that I have ever had. I have not purposely stepped in streams to see how water resistant they are, but can tell you that my feet have been nice and dry even in the rain. Im not sure if I would wear them in the hot and humid NC summers, I will have to wait for next summer to provide input on that.
