It says non-toxic but it would be good to understand what ingredients you're dealing with** A: Usually the ingredients in the E-wax are cetearyl alcohol and polisorbate 60. Therefore, this wax is not suitable to make cosmetics with "natural" claims. **Q: Is this product the same or similar to BTMS-50? Are the two interchangeable?** A: No. BTMS-50 is special because the emulsifier in it carries a positive electric charge. That causes it to stick to the negative charge in skin and hair and trap a microscopically thin layer of oil with it. Standard emulsifying wax uses an emulsifier without electric charge. It'll disperse oil into water, but won't trap a thin layer of oil on the surface of skin and hair. Recipe: I use water, oil, and this wax at 8-4-1 ratio by volume. (I use distilled water and olive oil). I put oil and wax in one little jar, and the water in another. I put both jars in a pot of cold water (double boiler idea), heat it up, and when the oily mix is melted, I take both jars out, let them cool a little, and then pour the jar water in the oily stuff.
