We tried 8 different vacs that would work on our new carpet this works great. The only other one that worked was a canister that was over $1000. **Q: Does it do floors as well as carpets?** A: Yes, this unit is for all floor types. **Q: Does the sanitaire bagless 887 have a lower hook for cord control?** A: No, Due to the size of the dirt cup bracket, there is no lower cord hook. Many disappointments. *by B***2 on September 28, 2020* I have a lot of buyers remorse with this vaccum. I am young and fit, even for me this vaccum is hard to handle, clunky and heavy. Even small amounts of long hair gets snarled and jams up the head of this vaccum. The way the handle snaps onto the main body of the vaccum is so loose it constantly disconnects when in use or when moving it. The cord is ridicuously long and cumbersome to manage in a moderately sized home.
