The double throttling design controls both hot and cold water supply to the mixed outlet. It consists of a lead free brass body, threaded union connections, solid wax hydraulic principle thermostat, integral filter washers and check valves with a locking mechanism for the temperature setting. This anti-scald (mixer) valve for controlling hot water temperature at my Roman tub replaces a 2007 year mixer valve. Read the directions carefully; to adjust the temperature, unscrew the Allen-head screw in the tan handle a bit (no need to remove) and then pull the handle back and turn. The handle cannot be turned with the Allen-head screw tight, and there was no need to completely remove the screw. Negligible pressure drop. **Q: What is the min./max. hot water temp. inlet? and how it will work if the hot temp. drop below the min.?** A: Min/Max HW inlet temp= 120 to 180 degrees. If the HW inlet water temp is below 120 the valve will simply pass cold water. The max pressure for both inlets is 150 PSI. There is no listed minimum pressure. Pressure drop varies with flow- at 6 GPM flow the pressure drop is 10 PSI. **Q: My solar hot water will be feeding my electric tankless heater. This should drop the water from 180 to 120 degree before tankless heater right?** A: Yes- but a couple of cautions. The maximum outlet temperature setting is 120 degrees, and the maximum inlet hot water temp to get that 120 degrees is 180 degrees. The valve is rated to still function at 200 degree inlet temp but at anything over 180 you will likely end up with an outlet temp over 120. **Q: The temperature adjustment knob will not turn.
