Generally it is used more often when homebrewers are using ball lock kegs. I use commercial sanke kegs and I do put lube on the o-ring of the keg spear before installing it back in the keg. However no amount lube will fix your issue of using 20lbs of co2 for three kegs. I talked to a guy who has 10 year old worn gaskets, and he's been using this grease for a short while. He said he's neve had a probelm with it.
