Review: For my dog - My dog, an 18 pound Shi Tzu, had high liver enzyme tests from too many years on steroids for his allergies . His ALT was 1365! He wasn't eating and was losing weight. The vet prescribed Denamarin which didn't help much as he was pooping out the pills. Pooping out $36 a month pills?! He still didn't want to eat and I resigned myself to the fact that my dog was dying. Thinking that maybe if he wasn't excreting his medication it might extend his life a little, I started doing some research. The main ingredient in Denamarin is a derivative of milk thistle. I found out that phosphatidylcholine makes milk thistle more absorbable. Maximum Milk Thistle by Natural Wellness has both. At first I had to shove the pills, coated in cream cheese, down my dog's throat because he wouldn't eat, however, now that he feels better he takes them willingly (coated in cream cheese) every morning a half an hour before his breakfast. Last time his liver enzymes were checked his ALT was dow to 553 after three months on the Maximum Milk Thistle! He has regained the weight he lost and is back to acting like his old self. I am so grateful. Besides working better than the vet prescribed medication it is a 1/3 of the cost, and those of you with allergic aging pets can relate. Next time he gets his liver enzymes tested I will post an update. My dog has been on the Maximum Milk Thistle for 7 months now. I was not compensated for this review in any manner!! Even family members have commented that they can see he is feeling better.

A: Each capsule of Maximum Milk Thistle contains a total of 240mg of Silybin Phytosome, which is silybin bound with phosphatidylcholine. One third of this is silybin and two thirds is phosphatidylcholine. Therefore, each 240mg capsule of Maximum Milk Thistle contains 80mg of silybin and 160mg of phosphatidylcholine.

A: Since Maximum Milk Thistle is chemically isolated to contain only silybin, pesticides or other possible contaminants would not be prevalent.
