It does need to be tightly staked down to keep birds and small animals from going under and becoming entangled. (This happened quite a few times). I have tried to use this on peach trees to keep squirrels out but without success. There was no way to completely wrap the tree tightly and squirrels ate EVERY SINGLE peach!. If you can completely enclose your plants and stake the netting around them tightly, this should work. I have not seen evidence of squirrels chewing through it. **Q: Is this reusable, or does one have to buy new netting every year?** A: Yes, we have used it for 2 years now. However, this year, the birds have gotten a little wise to it and they are succeeding at getting the fruit close to the net. Also, our fig tree leaves poke through and if you don't catch them, you have to snip the net here and there to push it back out. I figure this will take some life out of the net, but I still figure it's good for another couple years. **Q: will this keep out cabbage moths?** A: No, 1\2 circle mesh. **Q: Will this netting cover citrus trees, and keep small birds off of them? Thank you** A: This net is a very good product. It is a little difficult to install by yourself but will work fine. I used it for a 15' x 30' strawberry patch. I was tired of losing my entire crop to birds. It also helped keep out the squirrels. The problem you may have is getting it over the top of taller citrus trees. The netting catches onto any little snag (like branches) and then becomes hard to handle. ## Frequently Bought Together - Dalen Bird X Protective Mesh Netting - Keep Birds and Pests Away from Your Garden – Non Toxic - Made in The USA - 14' x 14' - Dalen Bird X Protective Mesh Netting - Keep Birds and Pests Away from Your Garden – Non Toxic - Made in The USA - 14' x 45' - BzBirds USA Made 20 Pack Landscape Staples 6 inch 11 Gauge Garden Stakes Galvanized Steel | Yard Stakes for Decorations Weed Barrier Fabric | Ground Stakes for Gardening | Fence Stakes Landscape Pins --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.gr/products/2355583-dalen-gardeneer-garden-netting-bird-netting-for-garden-reusable-design](https://www.desertcart.gr/products/2355583-dalen-gardeneer-garden-netting-bird-netting-for-garden-reusable-design) --- *Product available on Desertcart Greece* *Store origin: GR* *Last updated: 2026-11-08*
