The case is grippy, with a nice, smudge resistant uniform traingular pattern on the back and slight ridges on the sides for added grippiness. It is quite slim, but if you're looking for the slimmest case possible, then I would look elsewhere. I think the thickness is great for most people, though. Not too thick, but thick enough to protect the phone well. I can confirm, it is very protective. I have dropped it a few times, and it did it's job great. All cutouts are perfectly precise. The large cutout for the fingerprint scanner on the back makes it easy to find without needing to look or feel for it. The camera bump and screen is protected with a good size lip, and the charging port hole is big enough to fit all charging cables guaranteed. I can confirm that the cases no longer come with a cutout at the top, this was a manufacturing defect with older batches. Wireless charging works a breeze. With the lip around the case, it makes swiping left and right challenging. I still have to swipe multiple times to "catch" the swipe correctly. I'm sure it's not how Google intended. I have skinny fingers and owned my Pixel 5 since early May 2021. **Q: Is this supposed to work with wireless charging? Not working for me unless i remove the case.** A: I have this case and have not been able to get wireless charging to work reliably. It originally connects then stops charging almost immediately. It's a snug fit, seems to give good protection, and still results in a slim-enough phone. It's good and secure in the hand, too. The scooped cutout for the fingerprint reader makes this easy to use without needing to look for it - a bonus from the (rather thicker than some) gauge of the material. As it happens, this has a second advantage for me. I use the phone in a windscreen-mounted holder whilst in the car, and I found that the Pixel 5 minus the case was very lightly too narrow to be gripped securely.
