The 'vents' on the sole are basically holes. We live in Colorado and I wear sandals as often as possible. I have had many variations of slip on shoes through the years. The first time I wore these to shovel a light dusting of snow, the bottoms of my feet were wet immediately. I was confused until I realized these shoes have holes in the sole. Not a big deal because obviously shoveling snow in sandals is dumb, but I'll do my thing. Just not something I've had a problem with in the past.
