Review: If you have an ASUS TUF Gaming FX-series laptop, these are the right fans - Replacing you fans is a dirt cheap way to greatly extend your laptop. The right side fan started to click and grind as it spun, which meant the fan was basically dead. The motor was busted and it probably had a ball bearing come loose. I know a lot of people who know nothing about laptops or PCs will just dump the whole laptop and buy a new one, or waste money at a repair shop, but trust me... it's VERY easy to replace a dying fan and for 20 bucks, you can't beat just DIYing it. Ideally pick up a repair kit for under 20 bucks and you should also get a static grounding bracelet, but if you don't have access to one or can't wait, just grab a small or medium sized Phillips-Head... that will cover 99% of the repair work and make sure you're not rubbing your feet on carpet. Unplug EVERYTHING from your laptop... mouse connections, anything plugged into a USB, the battery cord, etc. Simply unscrew any screws on the underside of the laptop (carefully putting them aside so you don't lose them) and make sure you note which size screws go where... you don't want to force a long screw into a short hole and mess up your motherboard or other part. Use a credit card/driver's license, any slim plastic card, or even your finger nails, and pry loose the base. You'll hear some light snaps as it comes apart... that's normal. When you get around to putting it back, those will click back on and hold onto it. Put the base aside and *IMMEDIATELY* unplug the battery from the motherboard!!! I can't stress how important this is! You can easily short out any part with the leftover charge in your battery, especially if you mistakenly drop a screw, touch a connection with your screw driver, etc. The battery connection will be a thin series of wires coming off the battery connected to a thin but kinda wide plastic end which is then plugged into the motherboard. Try to be gentle but also keep in mind that the first time unplugging it will take a bit of finger muscles. Try wiggling it until it comes out or using a wooden toothpick at the edges to push it out. DO NOT use anything metal!! It WILL eventually come loose! With the battery disconnected, find the screws holding the fans down. There should be 2 on the right and 3 on the left and they are gold/brass colored. Should be easy to spot. Remove them while being VERY careful not to drop them into the motherboard. They are very small. After that, find the wires and plug (just like the battery) and disconnect the fans. They use a very small 4 pin connection in a tight space so you will have to get creative with how you wrangle them free. This is where the repair kit with plastic tweezers comes in clutch but if you don't have one, just figure out what works best for you. With everything disconnected gentle lift up the part of the copper heatsink at the base of the fan and while grabbing the fan with your other hand, slowly pull it out. If you feel resistance it's the heatsink and you need to lift it up more. Watch out for other wires that make get in your way. With both fans free, simply reverse all the steps with the new ones. There's only one way the fans can be put in so if you're facing a lot of resistance, don't force it and just make sure they're in the correct position. If the position is correct then lift up the heatsink some more. Put the screws back in and DO NOT forget to plug the fans AND your battery back in! It sucks to close everything back up only to realize you didn't plug stuff back in. Screw down everything, pop the base back on and press until you hear it click at various points around the edge, place the screws back in (remember their place!) and you're done! No software to upgrade, no nerd stuff (sorry nerds!), just a simply hardware replacement. Turn your laptop back on and be amazed at how quiet your laptop is supposed to sound. If you have the Armory Crate software installed from Asus, I'd suggest opening that up to make sure your laptop is recognizing the fans and to cycle through the speed options there as well. For almost everyone, this should be it! Enjoy your new fans and breath new life into your laptop!!
Review: Factory fit, works so far with no issues - Was a direct drop in and didn't require anything to get working other then plugging them in. Bearings went out in the old fans and this was a inexpensive and easy fix.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Value Replacement Fans for Tuf FX505GT
*by O***E on March 24, 2023*

Great value and easy fix. My GPU fan has had bad bearings that made a terrible racket since I bought this laptop over two years ago, and I finally got around to fixing it. These fans make a high pitched whining noise under load, but it sounds much more normal, and at idle or using low-GPU apps, they're very quiet. Quality is similar to the OEM fans I took out. Note: you should watch an online video of how to install these - there's a couple of tricks. For instance, you have to lift up the heatsink a bit to get the plastic hook to disengage, and there's some annoying tape that has to be peeled back and replaced (it's thermal tape; don't just toss it)!
