It's very workmanlike in its design -- ESPECIALLY if you pair it with a Crafter Blue dive strap. For an extra $65 or so you can take this good watch and make it look great. I've had this beast for less than a week and have already dinged it slightly -- however this is one of those watches that looks better with some character. I smiled when I saw the little dent. Added Bonus: my watch arrived with a "Made in Japan" dial and a perfectly aligned bezel. Three cons so far: 1. Seiko 4R movement runs around 10 seconds fast per day and only has around 40 hour reserve (at this price that's reasonable) 2. Screw down crown can be a bit gritty at times 3. Gripping the bezel isn't easy with the stock strap and very tough with the Crafter Blue upgrade. Overall I'm thrilled with this stylish yet blue-collar diving beast. Guess we were made for each other :) UPDATE: As much as I LOVED that Crafter Blue strap from an aesthetic perspective -- the rubber irritated my skin so much that I went back to the original Seiko strap. I'm so glad I did. The experience reminded me of just how comfortable these Seiko rubber dive straps are. No irritation whatsoever and the band expands nicely during times that my wrist swells.
