Review: A good entry level Bitcoin miner - This ASICMiner Block Erupter blade will "mine" the Bitcoin crypto-currency constantly. As of January 10, 2014, with the current Bitcoin network difficulty, this will earn you about 0.007 Bitcoin every 24 hours. Of course this is an average. Currently this is worth about $15 a day. With this you will need a separate power supply. You will need a 12V+ @ 10 amp-capable power supply. Typically people will use a 500W or more computer power supply. You might be able to go smaller if you're going to power just one blade, but as you add more you'll be driving the PSU harder and will cause it to heat up and potentially fail or not deliver enough power to the blades. Google "asicminer blade erupter setup" for more information. A good forum for information is at bitcointalk.org. You will need to strip 2 yellow/12V+ wires and two black/ground wires. Notice the green-colored connector at the top of the blade: that's where you plug in the power. After that, you will need an Ethernet connection to retrieve and send work. From there it's just some network setup, joining to a pool/proxy, and you're set. You will need to keep these cool. I keep a small USB fan on mine and they do the job. These should not get hot to the touch. They will generate a little bit of heat, but nothing uncomfortable to touch. As a general rule of thumb, keep these under 50 Celsius.
Review: Will never get your money back. - I originally gave this a favorable review, however I am taking it back since these will no longer give a return in investment. The Bitcoin difficulty is too high and rising too quickly. The popular online bitcoin calculator does not properly account for the rising difficulty and gives false estimates. There is no money to be made with this device.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do I power one of these? Can I just use the power supply from an old pc?**
A: .Well you could use an old PSU... (As long as it's rated > 300 watts.)However using an old PSU, you risk "stability" problems. (Working fine at first, then reoccurring unexplained problems.) And the older PSUs were very inefficient. (Draws power watts from the wall, but the power never gets to the blade.)You are likely to save $ (and headaches/problems) in the long run (remember this will be plugged in 24/7) by getting a newer PSU with a 80% - 90% efficiency rating to save the most electricity.Hope this helps, Jack

**Q: Can anyone tell me how to setup this board to work with "
stratum.btcguild.com:3333"? btcguild.com:8332 is down.**
A: You can also mine at p2pool.org with out a proxy.P2Pool supports both Stratum and Getwork. The AsicMiner Blades work like a charm with P2Pool.

**Q: I can't get this to mine. I've tried several different miners & pools. I think my settings are correct. I must be missing something.**
A: The blade only works with the getwork protocol. If you are going to use a stratum mining pool you will need a stratum proxy.

**Q: I am wondering if this will work with an older windows desktop i have laying around. Can someone describe the oldest os and ram, etc.?**
A: It doesn't require a computer. You only need a computer to config via a beowser if i remember correctly. I gave up on mine after a saw rhe payout of a months mining.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pricy, but they do work!
*by B***T on December 25, 2013*

We have had a good experience with these, pointing them at Bitminter and BTCGuild. We mine BTC and NMC with these, and they just go and go, rarely needing a reboot. We did have one arrive DOA, but WCTR is RMAing the unit, so no worries other than the downtime for one blade that is already paid for. If you are doing more than 2 or 3 of these blades, definitely grab a ASICMiner Block Erupter Blade Backplane, and may as well buy a HP 403781-001 DL380 G5 1000W Power Supply. They are cheap and really delivery some solid clean power. This We LIKE. (Thx @Borat!) Rev2's reputation is such that they can not be overclocked but they are easier to rack into a backplane than their predecessor, the V1. The V1 advantage is that it can be overclocked if you are good with electronics, multimeters, and a soldering iron. And yes, you can fry theV1 if you overclock incorrectly. Literally smoke and sparks may be experienced. So noobs do not try this at home. All that said, we are testing a way to overclock the V2's. So far we are just under 13ghash. We are using graphite from a pencil to expand the resistance around a resistive choke point on the board. Seems to work. Just use LOTS of cooling.. or these will COOK. The simplest statement to make about these money machines: they perform as advertised!
