They layer and blend beautifully. I use them on hot pressed watercolour paper (as I like some tooth) mainly for colouring stamped images and they are excellent, full of pigment, hard wearing and smooth. They come in a set of 3 stackable trays, a lid and a band to keep them together. My only gripe is there are only 36 colours and they are so good I want more! Review: Incredible pencils - These pencils are top quality, suitable for professional artists like myself. I would say these are top of the list with the Caran dache brand at quarter of the price! I'm so impressed by their vibrancy and smooth lay down.
