Loved it
*Spoilers aheadI never read this book series as a teenager and after the resurgence of Hunger Games, I decided to pick up the divergent series.I really enjoyed the world building and the characters felt like fleshed out human beings with complex personalities and motivations. Christine was not divergent but she still displayed divergence by being conscious of how being overly blunt affected others even though she grew up Candor.Four and Tris's relationship was fantastic and it was nice seeing them genuinely support and love one another while still keeping their individuality. There are multiple occasions where the two clash but it's not forced drama.I docked a star because I did not enjoy the ending and felt like it diminished some of Tris's development. Overall, I recommend this series and feel as though it is one of the few YA books that depict a healthy romantic relationship.

A Riveting Dystopian Epic
Veronica Roth's Divergent series, comprising "Divergent," "Insurgent," and "Allegiant," stands as a testament to the power of gripping storytelling within the dystopian genre. The trilogy takes readers on an adrenaline-fueled journey through a fractured society, where the exploration of identity and the consequences of societal divisions are at the forefront. In "Divergent," Roth introduces readers to a world divided into distinct factions, each valuing specific virtues. The protagonist, Tris Prior, emerges as a compelling and relatable character, navigating the complexities of self-discovery and defying societal norms. Roth's narrative prowess keeps the pace brisk, blending action, romance, and introspection seamlessly."Insurgent" delves deeper into the consequences of Tris's choices, propelling the story forward with intense factional conflicts and political intrigue. Roth's ability to maintain a high level of tension while developing characters in meaningful ways contributes to the series' enduring appeal. The concluding installment, "Allegiant," takes a bold turn with dual perspectives, offering a fresh lens on the narrative. While some readers may find the divergence from the established formula surprising, Roth's courage to challenge expectations adds a layer of complexity to the series. The trilogy's title, "Divergent," proves apt, encapsulating the central theme of embracing individuality in the face of conformity. Roth weaves a thought-provoking narrative that transcends the typical dystopian tale, leaving readers pondering the implications of choice and the pursuit of a better society. In summary, the "Divergent Series" is a captivating exploration of identity, loyalty, and the resilience of the human spirit. Veronica Roth's writing, coupled with the series' thematic depth, cements its status as a cornerstone in dystopian literature, offering readers a thrilling and introspective experience from start to finish.

Amazing series of books
The subject matter of these books is a traditional one of middle aged teens growing, changing, facing the trials and tribulations of the age group. BUT - that is where the traditional part ends. The setting comes from the imagination of Veronica Roth, who, I believe, really enjoyed writing this series. It is not a light hearted, everything works out well, type of story. Instead, it deals with the reality in that setting where there are both positive and negative outcomes in the various scenarios. Since I do not want to write any spoilers, I will write no more about the books. This is a great read for high school as a class book to read, discuss, write, and expand in many ways. I found the writing a little jagged in places - it does not always flow smoothly. That does not detract from the content and is my opinion.
