Review: Very high quality product, I will buy these again. - I like the thickness of the bags. They shrink nice and tight for a great professional looking package. I think the zip ties that come with it should be thicker. If you pull too hard they will break, but you have to pull hard after you remove the air vent tube to get the excess plastic to cinch down tight enough to keep air from getting in (detailed explanation below if you can't picture what I'm saying). Overall it works great, but I will be using some thicker zip ties on the rest of the bags. So the way this works, you put the bird in the bag head first. Or where the head used to be goes first. Put the tube in the butt end of the carcass and let it stick out of the back. Gather the excess bag and twist it a few time, kind of like a loaf of bread, keeping the tube sticking out and put a zip tie around the bag and tube. Dip the wrapped bird in hot water. Bag shrinks, excess air escapes out the tube. The moment of truth is when you pull the tube out out of the still twisted bag and quickly tighten the zip tie around the gathered, twisted plastic. If it holds, you have a vacuum sealed bird. If you pull too tight, the zip tie will break and you may not have a sealed bag. If you don't pull tight enough, you don't have a sealed bag. If you gently squeeze the bird and hear air hissing through the plastic, you know you don't have a seal.
Review: Simple and Tough - I watched a lot of videos on shrink bags for chickens. These bags are big enough to allow you to arrange the chicken, so it fits properly into the bag. However, I did have one chicken that was not arrange properly, but the bag did not pop ever with a sharp bone sticking out from the body of bird. Every bag shrank to the body of birds. The videos all stated that you needed to hold the birds under water for 5 to 10 seconds, but we found it was best to hold the birds under water for at least 8 to 10 seconds for best results. We are very happy with how the bags have performed.

**Q: last year my birds were too big for ziplock bags. How much did your chickens weigh dressed that fit in these bags?**
A: If you let your chickens get big (Cornish Cross) like we do where they weigh 9- 12 pounds a 2 gallon zip lock bag works. It doesn't get the air out but it takes the big birds.

**Q: Is this deal really for just 50 bags or is it a misprint. 60 cents per bag is crazy. Otherwise this is what I am looking for.**
A: Not a misprint. These bags are worth the 60 cents, though. I have not had any trouble with freezer burn, even the ones that had been in the freezer for six months.

**Q: How does this method compare to vacuum bagging? Getting ready to do our first batch of chickens and want to do it right. Thanks**
A: These bags are thick once they are shrunk. They don’t loose their shape. Always stay tight fit. I had chicken in freezer two years with no frost.

I like the thickness of the bags. They shrink nice and tight for a great professional looking package. I think the zip ties that come with it should be thicker. If you pull too hard they will break, but you have to pull hard after you remove the air vent tube to get the excess plastic to cinch down tight enough to keep air from getting in (detailed explanation below if you can't picture what I'm saying). Overall it works great, but I will be using some thicker zip ties on the rest of the bags. So the way this works, you put the bird in the bag head first. Or where the head used to be goes first. Put the tube in the butt end of the carcass and let it stick out of the back. Gather the excess bag and twist it a few time, kind of like a loaf of bread, keeping the tube sticking out and put a zip tie around the bag and tube. Dip the wrapped bird in hot water. Bag shrinks, excess air escapes out the tube. The moment of truth is when you pull the tube out out of the still twisted bag and quickly tighten the zip tie around the gathered, twisted plastic. If it holds, you have a vacuum sealed bird. If you pull too tight, the zip tie will break and you may not have a sealed bag. If you don't pull tight enough, you don't have a sealed bag. I watched a lot of videos on shrink bags for chickens. These bags are big enough to allow you to arrange the chicken, so it fits properly into the bag. However, I did have one chicken that was not arrange properly, but the bag did not pop ever with a sharp bone sticking out from the body of bird. Every bag shrank to the body of birds. The videos all stated that you needed to hold the birds under water for 5 to 10 seconds, but we found it was best to hold the birds under water for at least 8 to 10 seconds for best results. We are very happy with how the bags have performed.

These bags worked great for packaging whole cornish cross. Perfect fit for most of our birds who were in the 5-6 lb range. The bags were a bit snug with the occasional 7+ pound bird. Would definitely buy again.
