The beads are rounded without the pointed edges most soroban use. The frame looks glossy as well as the beads. This makes quite suitable for decoration. The beads move easily and the reset mechanism is durable and efficient. Overall I would recommend this for someone who is curious about learning to use a soroban and/or anyone looking for a decoration for the home or office. Although this abacus is perfectly usable it's a bit larger and heavy then it's smaller, more portable, counterparts.
