Easy Peasy
My fireplace is so bare. I've been looking for about a year & just didn't really know what to get or how to attach it to brick. I tried to find someone else to do it but couldn't. Then I found Pearl Mantels. I probably would've gotten a longer one & a slightly darker color but the price was just too good on this size & color that I couldn't pass it up. I was so excited the day it arrived. Within about 2 hours I had it up. I am a 43 yo mom of 3. I can do a lot but even this surprised me. My husband isn't a handy man but was gone for work so he wasn't there to help. I hung it right by myself. Seriously it couldn't have been easier. You need to measure twice & drill once has they say but I really feel like anyone can do it.

Beautiful - but be careful with the mounting board!
This is an excellent product - for the price. There’s always a compromise. The mounting board doesn’t come with hardware - I understand that where you drill holes will vary depending on your situation, but no hardware? That’s just silly. I was able to get it mounted quickly and relatively easily, but the mounting board split on the first screw. Yes, I pre-drilled the holes, but being an amateur I screwed a little too tight and it split. I was able to work with it, but do be cognizant of this. Otherwise this is a beautiful and well-made product and I’m thrilled with the 3-day makeover of my fireplace!

Cheap DIY Mantel Option
This mantel made a HUGE difference in our fireplace facelift! After some research, it looked like to have a professional build and install a mantel of the same style would be around $2k. More than we wanted to spend. This mantel made a great alternative that we could install ourselves. Yes, it looks production-line produced. I do wish they would just leave off the "distressing", as it only shows up in one or two places and looks like scratches. The little "inlayed authentic pearl" is also silly, its just a white circle (not a pearl), and looks like a flaw on the dark espresso wood. BUT all that said, we are still happy with this purchase. We have very uneven, large stones and were still able to install it with a normal hand held drill and concrete drill bit. Then we needed to chisel away at some of the protruding stones so the mantel would sit flush. Took a couple hours, but we did it! Love it.

It arrived fine. When we installed there were many problems
I ordered this product with plenty of lead time, as it’s large and bulky and does not ship prime. It arrived fine. When we installed there were many problems. We chose the no-Corbel option. The clear that was shipped with it was warped and completely unstable. The mantle actually fell off and hit me in the head as we were trying to secure it. When using a carpenter to install it with a safer system, the wood cracked (pilot holes and all) and split. Very disappointing quality and no response when i emailed the seller.

Wish I could give more stars!
Incredible product. I'm a trade carpenter and I was gonna build one my self. Took my wife's suggestion to just buy it finished in antique cherry. So glad I listened to her. Fit and finish are perfect, corbels well designed and built with excellent hardware, delivery was within days and expertly packed to protect the mantle and the finish. Yes the distressing is machined, but who cares? I pre hung my mantle ledger prior to cultured stone. In doing so I could not (and didn't want to) use the enclosed hanging strip and miter board attached. I removed said miterstrip and counter bored new holes, and screwed down from the top for a very secure anchor. I HIGHLY recommend pre mounting the mantle if you are installing stone. I don't see how this or any mantle can be attached to face of uneven stone. My install came out beautiful and I can not say enough about the product and the customer support I received when I called (and actually got a person on phone) and were very helpful with my query about removing the assembled miter strip, and deleting the hanging strip.kudos to a top notch company and product. My wife did not like the pearl inlay, so furniture crayon covered it. Please note:I've tried three times to attach photo, had to write this review three times. I lose my text and can't get it back

You are getting what you paid for, this is a very nice and sturdy mantel or shelf.
While this is marketed strongly as mantel, I live in an old house with high ceilings making this a very nice looking shelf.Mine came with no screws, I called the company and received them in two days. Service is everything these days, so I see this as a plus in a review. The unit is "Over built", a piece of quality furniture, it is a very sturdy and well thought out unit, there are three options for the "Look" but the full option, all included, also strengthens the shelf vertically (No sag under heavy weight to the front) with the corbels and back arch between them. Having options are nice.If you need a mantel, it is a very nice and easy solution, if you need an expensive shelf to show off some heavy items... This is perfect. Mine will have an old 1800's clock and I absolutely trust this shelf to hold it.I like the liability angle the company took on hanging this unit, simple and smart, as for the mounting plate which is provided, you are on your own (Drilll, svcrews, mounting method), there is a good reason for this, the shelf weighs a good bit already and if you were to not hang it correctly, it could hurt someone and damage your property. This should not deter you from buying it, just know what you are doing or get help.I would change one thing, and will, its wood... The shelf, once placed on the mounting bracket is sturdy but if lets say you ducked under it to move something and came up and bumped it, the shelf is not attached to the backplate (this may be in the instructions but I did not see it). My solution will be to drill two small holes through the top of the mounted shelf and install two screws through the shelf and into the mounting plate.

Excellent value for the price
Just in time for the holidays. Matches my floors perfectly. Super easy to install. All the pre-drilled holes lined up exactly. Light enough for one person to lift but strong enough to last. I like that the corbels can be removed if I change my mind. Too bad that the ‘distressed’ marks are machined identically but not a game changer. Excellent value for the price

Rustic or indented wood
At first I was taken back it was way more rustic than I thought. There was “V” marks indented in the wood as well as router gauges on the edge. I didn’t want to wait for another (as it’s xmas time) so I stained it and it looks pretty good. FYI Wayfair had the exact same mantle on for $200 less and amazon does not do price matching :(

Delighted with the mantel
Great product. Easy to assemble. Instructions were clear and concise. The stain went on easily. You have to buy mounting hardware separately, but was easily accomplished using some items I got at Home Depot. The mantel looks great and is very solid.

Restained it
Loved the look of the mantle except the orange tone in the stain. I ended up sanding it and restraining it and it turned out awesome! Would highly recommend if you’re willing to play around with sanding/staining it!

Great updates.
This mantel replaced the one that was on our 70s brick fireplace as you can see in the images. Now with the new stone put on this fireplace the rustic cherry just stands out better than the old one.Beautiful mantel and easy to put on.
