I'm no professional, but it turned out OK. Started with a very weathered door. I sanded down to bare wood on a Fir door. patched the cracks and spots where the grain was raised. It took 3 coats to hide my "overlap". (I brushed it on). I then put 2 coats varnish. I was hoping wood grain would show through, but this wasn't the case.
