Review: Makes cutting straight and true a trivial affair - This was my first time using a Japanese pull saw. However, the skill and muscle memory associated with using a Western push saw lends itself naturally to succeeding off the bat with this pull saw. This 5-inch Ryoba made short work of my sheesham wood study table. The quality of the cut was astonishing. In fact, I managed to saw off the legs of the hard wood table within minutes. But most surprisingly, the precision and consistency of the cuts allowed the table to sit true without the need for any shimming. I'll be buying the Dozuki saw as well to transition completely to Japanese pull saws.

**Q: Is the blade flexible enough to use this saw to cut door casings and jambs in place to allow sliding a floating floor underneath?**
A: Yes, as a matter of fact I am in the middle of a hardwood floor install right now. I am using this saw and another on the job, it is performing very well in this application.

**Q: Why is the blade tapered in width?**
A: Because these saws cut on the pull, the taper helps the teeth naturally dig in more aggressively with less down pressure.

**Q: Are the sides marked so as to know which blade to do cross cuts and which side to use for rips?**
A: Don't need marking. Course teeth for rip and fine teeth for crosscut.

**Q: Is the blade sharpenable?**
A: Not sharpenable, the steel on these saws is quite thin (due to the fact it is a “pull” saw). It cuts on the pull stroke not the push stroke (like most tradition western style saws) This allows a very thin kerf and quite fine saw set. The steel quality is excellent, so they hold an edge for a very long time. If it had very heavy use daily use and you found it blunt, usually you replace the blade rather than sharpen this style of saw. Hope this helps

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best saw in the world!

Because of this saw, I was able to cut the legs on my wooden stool. It was so easy and precise. I have been wanting to do it for 20+ years and now I can sit under the counter without my tighs touching the top of the counter. I also had to replace some of the laminate floor and I was able to cut it without any problems. It was great the saw, coping saw, and chisel. No fraying, clean cut. The floor looks beautiful. I can't wait to use it for another project. It works great!
