Review: Good historical video. - This video is a good example of an older version of the ballet. I saw a recent version of the Bolshoi in Orange county last year,They brought the house down and it was a full house too (+3000) I was very happy to see the variation of 2 ballerinas with guitars later joined by a third ballerina, The only other video of this variation i know of is from the kiev state ballet,(On laserdisc from image) Since it is an old video it is also interesting to compare this recording with recordings made recently and see the improvement in picture quality and also in the dancing like higher extensions etc,

This video is a good example of an older version of the ballet. Don Quixote is my favorite ballet. I have seen about 20 different productions (and some of them - dozens of times) - this is the worst. Pavlova is a super ballerina but she is alone in this falsified Bolshoi production. It is not the Bolshoi theater. The performance is given in some 3-rate assembly hall. The settings are of the so-called "gastroli type" or "tour type" and very bad at that. They are used when a theater is on a tour. The highest price for this disc should be $5.00 : $4.99 for Pavlova, one cent - for the rest of the ballet.
