Pleased to report: I can set my thermostat at 83º, turn this fan to the medium setting, and sit/write/eat very comfortably @ my kitchen table at the opposite far end of the room. 83º sounds nuts, I admit. But, it’s also nuts (in the best of senses) that this fan can easily keep a room cool and comfortable. No noise to speak of. Air flow is supreme. Works like a charm. There we go. One superb fan.

I have been buying Vornado fans for years. Vornado's air circulation, quiet operation, reliability and durability are unrivaled. This fan is up to the standards that Vornado set long ago. This fan is similar in size to my two previous Vornado fans. I do prefer the larger size fans like this one because they really move the air from one room to another. If there is supposed to be a remote control for the fan it was not in the box that I received. I notice that no one else mentions a remote control in their reviews so I am assuming that the item description is incorrect. The switch on the fan itself works fine and I have no problem walking over to the fan to turn it on and off.
