There are also instructions for installing the headboard without using the bar, if desired. The supplied instructions are good- nice sized illustrations and easy to understand. Like any "mounted to the wall" headboard, I maybe wouldn't suggest this for people who like to rearrange their bedrooms often, unless you also enjoy patching/repainting holes and re-installing as often and as much as you enjoy rearranging. :) The price is good considering what you get too. My only gripe about this headboard is that dust tends to collect and be very visible on the black bar, so I have to clean that off more often than I'd like. There are actually two different ways you can choose to do this based on if you want to use the bar or not. The bar is a glossy black finish which surprised me because I was expecting matte black, but still looks great. I like that you can choose how high you want to mount it. We kept snagging our pillow cases on our rustic wood wall so this will work as an excellent barrier. The “leather” straps definitely don’t look like leather and are very faux, so if you don’t care about that this is your kind of headboard.
