I need to lubr where a rubber weather strip is starting to rub the paint and squeak** A: i don't see this having any effect on paint at all, it's not corossive in any way.. The gels you buy at the pool supply store last about 3 months when applied to the gaskets for the pool filters. But this one lasts about a year or more. I also use it in my medical equipment repair business. I use it in switches, on gaskets, anywhere friction is an issue. Even if it yellows in the tube with age, it still holds up as well. It's a difficult thing for me to say in general about any product nowdays, but I trust this product, Sil-Glyde.
