This newer system has much better sound quality, probably limited by the low-end VOI system I use. It is pretty easy to set up and use, and functional for our needs as a home phone. I have only one complaint about it. It seems to 'think' we live in another time zone. I've reset the time many times, but within an hour or so the time was always 1 hour ahead while we were on Daylight Savings Time. But now that we're back to Standard time, the phone time is 2 hours ahead!
