I needed something to block hypermobility so I could prevent injury but still let me have full function of my hand. This splint was very easy to put on and adjust, even with limited mobility of my other arm. It's comfortable to wear and could be used in a variety of ways. The rigid supports provide excellent immobilization if you need it for post up trigger thumb or de quarvein's tenosynovitis. I wanted light support so I could use my thumb fully but without my joints hyperextending and this splint does that well with the rigid supports removed. I actually found my pinch strength increased while wearing the splint because it could keep my distal joint straighter against resistance. Or just the thumb?** A: No palm support just thumb. And the wrap around the wrist leaves a lot for improvement. I would not recommend purchasing. **Q: I have cmc in both hands. will the vive braces immobilize both areas?** A: Yes, and the brace can be used on either hand (left and right hands use the same brace). The brace has a hard stay that runs from the end of the thumb to the basal joint and partially immobilizes the thumb, but you are still able to grasp things lightly with the thumb and forefinger. Although hand usage is somewhat limited, there is no reason why braces could not be used on both hands. Mine brought me a lot of relief and is very comfortable. My doctor told me to use it every day for two weeks and then if pain subsided just use it as needed. **Q: Why does this wrinkle when pulled tight?** A: The ones I have used do not do that, however it could be that your glove size is to large for your hand and the extra material in the glove is somehow causing a wrinkle effect. My hand is average size not large not small but again I have not experienced that with the Vive Art/Thumb Splint. Or lastly is it possible you have a defectively made glove splint??? Eventually I settled on this one. Overall the product works great. It allows me to adjust for the width of my thumb and keeps my thumb from most of the strain. However, the velcro is extremely tight. I mean I have to really yank, to take it off (I'm a guy, who works out, hahaha). On the one hand, it's good to be tight so the brace doesn't just come off, but it can be a pain to take off, especially with an injured hand. You will have to take this off a few times a day, to wash your face, take a shower, etc... Besides that, it has held up. I've owned it for over a month and despite everything, it's still going. I personally hope to one day be done with this thing. If you are suffering from this same ailment, there are exercises online to help you move past this. Unfortunately, our medical system is more concerned with more ways to make money than to really help you.
