I am used to stick welding, and all the frustrations associated with that. I picked this thing up, and after a couple of minutes getting used to it, fell in love. So far, all I have used is flux core wire, and it is so easy - all you gotta do is get ready and squeeze the trigger. I've used it for some small stuff (although I think you can go much smaller with the mig aspect), and am currently building a large, tow-behind grill. The material I am working with is 1.5" x 3" x 3/16" thick steel tubing for the trailer frame, and this little machine is handling it easily, and making great looking welds with excellent penetration. I honestly don't know if I'll ever go back to the old buzz box! **Q: What is the duty cycle** A: This welder has a 20% duty cycle. It is the amount of time the welder is functional without overheating. High end industrial welders that have 100% duty cycle can run continuously. Most welders for the DIY person are 20%.
