Review: Helps improve quality, productivity - The TurboRoll made me a somewhat better painter and made painting faster, easier and less messy for me. It made me a better painter because the steady, even flow translates into a perfectly painted wall or ceiling. Painting is easier and faster because you eliminate most trips back to the paint tray. And painting is less messy because fewer loading sessions translate in less paint spilled on places you don't want it to go. While all of the above are great improvements, there is SOME price to pay for the extra quality, productivity and convenience. The TurboRoll requires more maintenance. If it is to last and to keep working well 'next time' it needs to be thoroughly cleaned. It's not hard but it's not fun either and it is a 20+ minute job. I'd do it outside, in the backyard if possible. And, of course, the O-rings need to be lubricated. I learned it from our plumber that Vaseline works and that's what we've used. We only did on painting campaign so far but lubricating BEFORE use resulted in some very smooth operation. We hope that applying some Vaseline AFTER we were done will keep the tool in top shape for its next use. Overall, we are very happy with the TurboRoll. It's our first such tool so I can't compare it with other model but these are the pros and cons, the way we experienced them. PROS: - Faster than 'normal' rollers - Even flow - Less mess - Less effort - Great for painting high ceilings - Easy assembly CONS: - Requires thorough cleaning and lubrication - Still need a traditional roller in cramped areas Anything that turns me into a great house painter and does it without me breaking too much of a sweat deserves the 5 star rating. Without the TurboRoll I would have spent longer time doing a worse paint job.
Review: Very reliable results - I've gone through them all. Normal roller, then I tried the version of this that is now powered, but manual, that fills the handle and you force it out as you roll. That worked good, but was still kind of a pain, so I then got the normal Wagner power roller, with the pump and feed that sit on the paint can, and that worked very well as well. So I saw this on a gold box deal, and had to grab it to "round out" my collection. My hopes were that it would be easier than the normal powered roller I had since I would have no tubes tying me to that paint can, and easier than the manual paint stick I had, because it uses batteries to move the stick and force the paint into the roller. And so far, it's met those expectations. The application of paint is just beautiful, does a great job of letting you roll a good layer out on a wall or ceiling with virtually no spatter, and no variance in the thickness that you get with a normal roller as the amount on the roller lessens. I saw ultimately no difference in the quality of the paint job using this as opposed to the other power roller I have that ties directly to the paint can. But being able to walk around ladders, flood lights, and such, without having to always take the tube into account was the big difference. Well worth having to go back to the paint can occasionally to "reload" the handle with paint. Application was smooth, I had no jumping or stuttering of the motor, so the amount coming out was steady, which is an absolute requirement when you get into the "groove" and figure out your best speed to keep you moving quickly across the wall or ceiling. Cleanup wasn't a big deal, certainly no harder than the manual paint stick I had, and easier than the full power system I have. About 20 minutes and I was done, and as another reviewer said, it's worth it for the time saved. You just have to make sure you keep the length of the stick in mind in tight quarters, and adjust your application accordingly. Definitely a time saver, and the consistent feed helps the application look better for "normal" people like me who don't do this for a living. I can tell the rooms I did with a normal roller compared to the ones I did with either of my power rollers.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Designed for one long, single-color painting session
*by S***S on April 18, 2012*

We just bought a house and had to repaint just about every wall, thanks to the peach and pink tastes of the previous owners. I purchased two of these in hopes of making the job easier. The initial setup was very easy- the included instructions are fairly foolproof. We went from boxes to paint-ready in about 5 minutes. We used extremely thick paint- Benjamin Moore Regal Select, but I had no problems as other users had reported. The first fill from a new can did product some air, but retracting the pump and trying again fixed the issue immediately. Our first task was to paint about 800 sq ft of textured ceiling - the poles filled with paint were reasonably heavy, but not moreso than a heavy duty metal pole. Ceilings are the worst to paint in any scenario. At first we had some problems, but once we started using what we thought was "too much" paint, we suddenly had much better coverage. We probably should have used the spatter guards, but the mess on our faces wasn't too bad without them. Unfortunately, the cleanup on these led to me using manual rollers much more than I had originally anticipated. You're supposed to submerge the bottom in water, then use the pump manually several times to clean the tool. There were a few problems with this: 1) The head of the roller is too wide to fit into a standard 5 gallon bucket, meaning you need to get creative if you want to clean up outside. 2) You really need multiple vessels to clean this in - one for the initial rinse, and then another with perfectly clean water to continue cleaning. 3) Removing the insides from the roller cover was EXTREMELY difficult while covered in paint. After destroying my fingernails, I ended up throwing the whole assembly into a bucket filled with water and sorting out the mess later. Some sort of tab to pull the ends out of the cover would have made this much, much easier. Before I told him otherwise, my husband was convinced the entire roller/cover was one solid assembly to be tossed in the trash and replaced. 4) While putting the rollers in manual mode, they kept clicking back to the powered mode. I was able to move the lever again each time, but this got annoying quite quickly. Because it happened with both rollers, I don't think it was a singled-out defect. The first time I used the roller, I rushed to the bathtub after it wouldn't fit in a bucket to try and get everything clean before the paint dried. Do NOT do this! I couldn't get the water quite deep enough and ended up squirting watered-down paint all over our entire bathroom, making quite a huge mess. Our first ceiling-painting night ended with me cowering on a paint-covered bathroom floor, surrounded in a watery paint mess and nearly in tears. Throughout the rest of our painting adventure, the rollers periodically came into play, but only if we had an entire room to paint with the same color. For most smaller areas, you could handroll and cleanup in less time than using this turbo roller. Other issues, albeit minor - when working on a ceiling, be sure to not apply any pressure from the side, or the cover will unlatch and come flying off the end, covering you and your floor in paint. Also, don't completely fill the tube with paint when working in tight areas, or the length of the extended pole will severely hinder your maneuverability. Will I use it again? Possibly. One of them ultimately ended up in the backyard, probably still filled with paint. If you plan on using one of these, make sure you prepare a "cleanup station" in advance so you aren't left with an awkwardly-sized mess!
