At first, mine really favored the down direction - it was much easier to press down than up. I decided to open it up and swap the d-pad cross plastic piece and rubber membrane for one from an original SNES controller. This noticeably helped with that issue. However, it still just doesn't seem to do diagonals quite as well as the originals - which I have since found other people commenting on in various forums (claiming it's due to these having different contact points on the PCB than what nintendo used). Most people, in most games won't even notice this though, so don't let this scare you away from the controller if you're more of a casual gamer or just arent as picky.- Going back and forth between devices like I do (going back and forth between a Switch, Android tablet, and Android TV) is a mild PITA, and I really wish they just had a switch to toggle between the different modes, rather than using obscure button combinations. Also, the instructions tell you what button combos to press to go into the different modes (i.e. Switch mode, Android/iOS mode, etc), but omit the important detail of making sure the controller is OFF when you hit the combination. Still, a mild complaint.Also, if you're using this with the Nintendo Switch, just know that you can press a button combo (I think it's down and start) to go to the home menu. As Switch support was added after this controller was produced, this is nowhere to be found in the directions.If 8Bitdo would release an updated version of these controllers, with better d-pad designs that are more in-line with the original Nintendo hardware, this would easily be a 5 star product. I personally would also like to see one or two additional, remappable buttons added (could be used for turbo modes, mapping emulator fuctions such as savestate/loadstate. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better & Less Expensive than 1st Party Controllers *by C***K on Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2017* I purchased 4 of these controllers for a MarioKart 8 Deluxe tournament planned for our office and these SNES controllers perform like a champ!The nostalgia levels are high as these feel exactly like they did in my hands back in 1991.To get these to work on a Nintendo Switch, there's a few hoops you have to jump through but nothing too prohibitive or complex (you'll need a computer & internet access to d/l the latest firmware update).The button combos to sync the devices & initiate it for firmware updates are a little odd but a little experimentation should get you where you need to be.Also of note: the packaging is phenomenal! You'll feel like you're opening up an iPhone! The included USB cable & corporate branded keychain are very nice as well.My greatest concerns lie, not with these amazing products, but w/Nintendo & their inane C&D policies. I worry they'll sabotage these peripherals with a console patch & legally stymie the makers.For now; this is the optimal way to play like it's old-school MarioKart on the Switch. ### ⭐ Drops Bluetooth connection on multiple PCs *by K***. on Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2018* Heartbroken.They look nice, I know 8bitdo is a good company, and they are active in the DIY community. I want to love these. I expected to love these. But Bluetooth won't stay connected. After quite a struggle getting them to connect, they'll work great for about 20 minutes and then they will hold down random buttons, simply stop responding, or disconnect. I'm a tech guy and I'm very proficient and troubleshooting and resolving technical problems. It's how I make my living. I can't figure out what the issue might be.EmulatorI'm using SNES9x which I've used for years (most recent version though).I also tried other emulators. Didn't help.HardwareI tried my laptop and my top-of-the-line custom built rig. All my computers work with other Bluetooth devices, but each computer has the same problems with these controllers.Possible InterferenceI turned off every Bluetooth device in my house including my phones to ensure no interference. Didn't help.FirmwareI've tried downloading and updating to the latest 8bitdo firmware. Didn't help.GoogleNo man is an island and unsurprisingly I wasn't the only one experiencing similar problems.
