It’s double layered so it provides extra protection and also keeps the water from my damp hair leaking onto my pillow. I wash it every two weeks with downy free and line dry.The slim elastic that runs along my forehead doesn’t cause breakouts and is loose enough to stay in place 90% of time without causing a headache. It's double layered, big and bouncy so it can contain a whole lot of hair. The elastic band is also made of cotton so its has good grip when you sleep and doesn't slip off. It's comfortable, washes nicely, and stays put all night. I can position it high by my hairline or low across my forehead and it stays put. In fact, that's the only problem. I still had lines across my forehead more than three hours after taking it off. I'm pale, but not *that* delicate.
