As this is a wireless system, non metallic was a must to ensure no interference with the other parts of the panel and the interlogix panel fit perfectly. Thanks.** A: That is basically what the outside measurement of the box (8" x 6.5"). The door is just a little larger to cover the box (8.5" x 7.5"). The wall thickness of the box is 1/16". Hope this helps you out. **Q: What's the best way to remove the knockouts without damaging the box? I'm afraid I'll break the box if I just try to pound it out.** A: I didn't have to remove any of the knockouts. They are designed to be removed, I believe prying out the ones you need to remove would be better than pounding, as it's plastic. I used it to house my yard sprinkler timer. Worked good for my application. **Q: From the pictures it looks like a regular Philips screwdriver could remove the screws from the hinges to open the box. How secure are the hinges?** A: Yes they are 1/4 screws **Q: how high does the back plate stand? i.e. how much clearance is between it and the back of the box?** A: It is all one box. No separate back plate. The back plate is part of the box. There are just 4 keyhole holes for hanging the box on screws, bolts or whatever. It mounts flush to the wall. It is pretty sturdy. Also, there is no removable tray inside. I was looking for an electronic enclosure to put a big 50A 12V power supply in. This Case worked very well, and is very sturdy. I needed to cut out a large hole for a fan. It was hard to drill for sure. If you plan to drill or cut into this box, be prepared! The plastic is thick! Overall, sturdy product for the price.
