Jarrow Formulas MK-7 (Menaquinone-7) is a bioactive form of Vitamin K2 derived from Natto through fermentation by Bacillus subtilis subsp. natto. Each softgel provides 90 mcg of of MK-7. Review: Very potent for me, works best with careful dosing - For me, this is very potent. I’m sensitive to supplements that affect the nervous system, and I definitely notice an effect with this one. When I take it, I experience deeper sleep and better clarity during the day. However, I have to pace my doses — I take it two or three times a week in the morning. If I take too much or too often, it makes me feel groggy and overly sleepy in the afternoon. As long as I space it out, it works well for me, but this is one to use thoughtfully.
Review: After years of warfarin therapy, I am repairing my blood vessel health AND bone health with MK-7 - After approximately 6 years of warfarin based anti-coagulation therapy my blood vessels are utterly destroyed as evidenced by the results of a recent specialized MRI called an MRV. Knowing what I know today about warfarin and the calcium paradox I will *never* take any form of warfarin ever again, especially after all the adverse reactions I have endured. Warfarin is a Vitamin K antagonist - which means warfarin depletes vitamin K. Vitamin K is required for blood vessel health AND bone health. When the blood vessels become inflamed and begin cracking from lack of Vitamin K, the body will respond by lining the blood vessels with calcium thereby causing arteriosclerosis aka hardening of the arteries. In the meantime, the body is taking the calcium from the bones thereby causing them to become more brittle (osteoporosis) to then line the blood vessels. When I have explained this to certain medical doctors some of them have had a reaction of "oh my..." then they grow quiet as they think of all the patients they have treated who were on warfarin anti-coagulation therapy... It is a sad state of affairs indeed when medical doctors need to be educated by their patients. When I take Vitamin K to repair my cardiovascular and bone health, I look for MK-7 for the best source of Vitamin K2. I trust Jarrow Formulas to provide a quality product at a reasonable price point. For me, this is very potent. I’m sensitive to supplements that affect the nervous system, and I definitely notice an effect with this one. When I take it, I experience deeper sleep and better clarity during the day. However, I have to pace my doses — I take it two or three times a week in the morning. If I take too much or too often, it makes me feel groggy and overly sleepy in the afternoon. As long as I space it out, it works well for me, but this is one to use thoughtfully.
