They are true silk- you have to be careful ordering on Amazon because some say silk (even on the tag sewn in!!) but are actually polyester in a satin weave. I did the burn test to confirm. The fabric was a little on the thin side but very comfortable with a beautiful silk sheen. I decided to dye the pillowcases in a darker grey with a shibori honeycomb technique and it came out beautifully. The price was $20.99 for each pillowcase which is a good price although I'm not sure if it is 22 momme, feels more like 19 momme.
