It may lock in other angles, but I have not tried it in angles other than parallel or perpendicular to the handle. I also will mention that this unit has performed admirably and I have absolutely no regrets with my purchase. I was able to remove old tile (put down in the 1950's with thick-set. I found it works best at lower speeds and sharp angles of attack. Take your time and you won't work up any sweat, letting the tool do the work. It can be set to drill, to jack hammer, or to drill and jackhammer combined. Also, don't know about torque, but I found it to be sufficient for all applications I've tried it in.
