**Q: Why is this $16 when the catalog has it at $5.25?**
A: The $16. includes your shipping.  I did lower the selling price to $9.99.  Amazon  fees t are also included in the selling price.

**Q: How long is the cake tester portion?**
A: At least 5 inches. I love mine.  I use it from cakes to breads.

**Q: Tester suppose to come off? Mine did?**
A: The plastic sleeve does come off and is only used in storage. The silver part is the tester. The black part is the handle.

**Q: Is this silicone?**
A: It is nylon & stainless steel.

I rely on this device to test for doneness on all of my bakes. The handle works well when I need to loosen the sides without any issues. I made the mistake of testing a cake sideways because I didn't pull it out far enough to place it straight on and it caused the rip, as one would expect. But if you slide the item out so you can poke it straight in and lift it straight out, you'll have no problems. A very handy tool.

This is a great product! Sturdy, easy to hold and easy to clean! It’s perfect for testing the doneness of cakes that are one inch in height or many inches in height. And it’s a product you will have forever.No need to use toothpicks any longer.

This works as well for releasing baked goods from the side of the pan as it does for testing. Yes, it's delicate but it has to be to function properly.
