Second Skin Luxury Liner is a 2 lb per square foot mass loaded vinyl soundproofing sheet, measuring 24" x 54" with 1/4" thickness. ## Description

Luxury Liner 2 lb is a flexible, barium infused mass loaded vinyl that's MADE IN THE USA. Uses include blocking the transmission of airborne sound waves coming from road, engine, and exhaust drone. Combine with a closed cell foam like OverKill Pro or jute material like Heat Wave Pro to block stubborn airborne noise. Recommended adhesives include super strong double sided tape, Dual Lock reclosable fasteners, and vinyl contact cement. The MLV can also be stapled, screwed, or nailed in place. Tensile Strength: 600 psi (ASTM D412) Tear Resistance: 100 lbf/in (ASTM D412)

Review: As per the spec, this is heavy duty 2# MLV - I got this in one day, which never happens from desertcart since Covid hit. There is no pressure adhesive but I mounted to the inside of a cabinet door with 3M double sided exterior foam tape. My cabinet hold my NAS and the sound of the hard drives thrashing drove me batty. The center panel of my cabinet door is 1/4" plywood and my thought was that I could get some sound insulation using MLV. It works!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this safely be applied directly to the outside of a heating duct?  If so how, just tape?**
A: You can use mass loaded vinyl on the outside of SOME heating ducts. But you need to be sure that the heat level is not too high for the material.
Assuming this is not a high-heat application, I'd actually recommend you go with our Luxury Liner Pro product. It comes with a fused closed-cell foam decoupling layer that allows the MLV to "float" off the duct. This creates a double wall effect and improves performance.
Wrap the Luxury Liner Pro around the duct. Hold it in place with mechanical fasteners every few feet. Wrap the entire thing in foil tape.

**Q: Is this 1lb/ sq ft? Is it reinforced?**
A: This listing is for the 1/4" 2lb per sqft option. We sell it in 1lb per sqft also. The tensile strength of either option is 600 PSI.

**Q: Can you cut this?**
A: Yup. Luxury Liner is typically cut with a sharp utility knife.

**Q: how do you mount this to an apartment wall?**
A: Normally it goes under the drywall, directly over the studs. But in buildings that are more restrictive of construction add ons, you would need to apply it on the wall with bolts with large washers that are drilled into the studs through the drywall. It is used on the walls between you and the noise and needs to be in full coverage across the wall to perform best.
