I removed from stove and poured into plastic container big enough to lay the Pinlock insert flat. I placed Pinlock insert in water for about 20 seconds and removed, rinsed with cold water. I repeated this until I got the shade I wanted. I don't recommend leaving for longer times as Pinlock inserts have a thin film which is what absorbs the moisture from your breath. If you leave to long the film can wrinkle and peel off. If the shield warps a bit, no worries. It'll straighten out when you pin it to your shield.
