Review: Eggsactly what I wanted! - When I was a kid we had an aluminum single-egg poacher which I used several times a week. Flash forward 30 years and I'm looking for an egg poacher for my kids to safely use. I first got some of those silicone poachers at Christmas but I had the same problems as everyone else - poor heat transference resulting in unsatisfactory eggs - and my kids almost got steam burns using them. I went searching on desertcart, saw that this poacher was liked the most and I bought it. Wow, this is one of the highest quality items I've ever received that was made in China. The pan and lid are heavy and stay where you put them and the poaching insert has a good Teflon coating. The handle is firmly riveted to the side of the pan and it's long enough that you don't burn your hand over the stove while using it. The handle on the poaching insert is small but since it's aluminum it says pretty cool to the touch - with my Kevlar hands I don't need a pot holder - but the handle on the lid can get pretty hot so use a pot holder for that one. The poacher insert has vents around the edge so it doesn't rattle while the steam escapes and the lid is heavy enough to keep the poacher down in case someone fills the pan too full and floats the insert. My kids are loving using it almost daily, so much so that I just leave it on the stove all the time. If you're only making two eggs, this is so much easier to use than buying and storing a 4-egg insert. It works best if you keep the heat on high until the water is boiling and then turn it down to 4 before you put the egg in. On my stove, 3.5 min makes a loose egg; 4 min makes a cooked but runny egg; and 4.5 min makes a soft but non-runny egg. We are so glad

The only (very minor) negative is that while the insert is nonstick, It isn't perfectly nonstick. The first egg I did stuck just a little. I had always used a small bit of butter in the insert of my old poacher and do with this one as well. Eggs slide right out. I cook the egg 4 and a half minutes, others might want to make it 5 minutes depending on exactly the amount of doneness you want on the white.

**Q: Isn't Teflon considered bad for you?**
A: I've been changing my cookware over to stainless because the teflon isn't good for you.  But, with the egg poacher, you're only using steam to cook the egg.  Frying foods in teflon is when it's bad.  I love this egg poacher and have no reservations about it.

**Q: can you make the egg well done in center, not runny?**
A: I put about an inch of water, cover and bring to boil. Meanwhile, spray cups and break eggs into cups - I use extra large. When water boils, remove lid, put in cups and recover. Turn down heat, but keep low boil going. Time for 4.5 mins. If you'd like to make more eggs then you plan to eat and would like to serve them later. Prepare an ice water bath before you start the cooking. When the eggs are done, plunge them immediately into the water bath and let sit until they are completely cooled. Wrap them with a damp paper towel on a plate, covered w/plastic wrap & refrigerate. When ready, bring a pot of water to boil. Submerge eggs and cook just 1 minute remove and dry w/paper towel. They are ready to serve & perfect, every time! I have a B&B and make these all the time...reduces stress in the morning by "prepping" them the night before.

**Q: Are the cups for the eggs large enough for Jumbo eggs?**
A: Yes, the cups can handle the jumbo eggs.

**Q: Dear customer support can you see the screws on the other side of the lid? Your assistance is appreciated.**
A: The screws are not visible on the other side of the lid, only the indentation appears.  Hope this helps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best egg poacher ever!

Man, do I love this litlte pan! It is heavy and poaches a perfect egg every time! I didn't think I even wanted a special pan for this purpose - after all, it isn't rocket science to poach an egg. BUT... when doing it manually, you do need to add vinegar to the water and get it going at a swirl and then drop in your egg from a very shallow container. Not hard - but prone to swirly egg white, overcooked yellow, etc. With this little pan, all you do is put an inch or so of water in and put it on the burner, butter or spray the teflon egg holder, break in the egg, close up the pan and let it cook for a couple minutes. I find that 2.5 minutes is enough. And then the egg slides right out, perfectly rounded on the bottom, and no egg-y residue to scrub out of the pan! Love it! The pan is a nice compact size for small jobs - I may try to clarify some butter in it - it seems perfect for that as well. So glad I got this. Now when I get a hankerin' for eggs benedict, this makes it easy to indulge!
